Found on Facebook. Apparently Swiss regulations prevent it from having the stock large wing.

Looks almost good.

For some reason, my first thought was “Well, what did they change to make it Swiss-spec?”
Surprising, since the wing is a pretty big deal when it comes to the things the car is known for.

I prefer this. :?

Interesting. I’m kind of surprised Ferrari lowered the wing instead of offering the car with detachable wing the owner has to put on or coming up with some sort of imported used car scheme with the Swiss clients.

I can’t decide if I like this or the big wing better.

Wow, I didn’t know about this. Any details on the particular regulation that the original wing violates?

Good on Switzerland.

Switzerland has had all sorts of odd laws regarding cars. In interests of pedestrian safety, Rolls Royces were not permitted to have the Flying Lady installed. Speaking of wings, Escort Cossies had to delete that iconic tea tray spoiler. And for noise pollution, manual cars had to be 2 decibels louder than automatic ones. It’a almost as if the Swiss want to ban the car altogether which isn't really surprising considering how Eco-mad the Swiss are.

Haven’t they explicitly banned motorsport of any kind?

The “Fun Cars Are The Devil” law.

Gives it a neat, sleek look.
I wonder if there’s a big difference in downforce between the two and if performance is noticeably affected (although I’m sure you need ludicrous speeds to notice).

I’m not entirely sure if that’s true or not, looks like there are other Swiss F40's with the normal wing.
Not saying it's impossible but there doesn't seem to be much info to back it up, as interesting as it is.

Everything except rally and hillclimb, because even the Swiss admit those are awesome

It was likely put back to stock by the owners, would be my guess. A friend of mine has a Swiss-spec Escort Cosworth that also had the large wing removed.

Hm, very interesting. Just out of curiosity, what else did the Facebook post say? I’d be interested to try to find out more and see how many cars were made with that wing, if that’s the case. I'm also wondering if a similar solution had to be made for the F50.
